Explore the world’s largest mangrove forest, the Sundarbans

A Sundarbans safari is a visit to one of the candidates for the new 7
wonders of nature and the world’s largest mangrove forest. It is a rare
opportunity to visit pristine and unblemished nature. The Sundarbans is
the large jungle with wild weather that is not a destination for the
faint hearted. The Sundarbans covers 38,500 Sq Km of which a third is
water and has been a wildlife sanctuary since 1966. The present day
Sundarbans contains remnants of the Gangetic plains forests that covered
the most populous parts of Pakistan, most of northern and eastern
India, parts of southern Nepal and all of Bangladesh. The Sundarbans is a
UNESCO world heritage site. The forest is accessible in Bangladesh by
river from Khulna or Mongla. From India it can be reached by river from
Raidighi, Najat, Sonakhali, or Namkhana.
